About Me

My passion in life is to help people get out of the rut, uncover what they want, and then go get it - especially as relates to career, relationships, and health.

I am a CCAR certified recovery & life coach and meditation instructor with extensive training in secular and multi-faith spiritual counseling. My philosophy is rooted deeply in Buddhist teachings and influenced by attachment theory, neuroscience and the healing modalities of the Bill Wilson's 12 steps, Noah Levine's Refuge Recovery and Danielle LaPorte's Desire Map.

I provide 1 on 1 mentorship, coaching, and counseling, teach group workshops and classes and run retreats for people who are interested in heightening their awareness of self and in nurturing their capacity for other-consciousness and emotional resiliency. Our goal is to foster an authentic relationship to life and self and to reduce suffering in all life areas.

My dedicated meditation practice began as a solitary pursuit in the late 90's / early 2000's. About 10 years later I was fortunate to find mentorship and training in Theravadan Buddhism and Vipassana meditation and counseling with western Dharma teachers Josh Korda and Noah Levine of Against The Stream Meditation Society / Dharma Punx. In addition, my training includes Palliative Care and Spiritual Counseling with Robert Chodo Campbell and Koshin Paley Ellison of the New York Zen Center for Contemplative Care and Insight Meditation and MBSR with John Aaron of the New York Insight Meditation Center. My main meditation practice is Vipassana (insight).

I have worked as a palliative care volunteer at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City where I also served as a group meditation and spirituality group discussion facilitator in their psychiatric wing. I spent the greater part of 2016 as a Recovery and Life Coach, meditation facilitator and retreat manager at the New Life Foundation in Chiang Rai, Thailand. I also facilitate Dharmageek, a weekly meditation group in New York City.

Meditation, integrity, social and experiential relationships, and service are practices and themes that are integral to the work I do with all my clients.

Born in Massachusetts, I've been fortunate to also live in San Francisco and New York City. From 2016 - 2017 I lived in Thailand and Mexico before returning to New York to further my work and education.

Core desired feelings

mudita, sprezzatura, home, free, radical

Q & A

Q: What are your Core Desired Feelings?

MUDITA - Vicarious joy for the successes of another as if they were my own. Like the joy a parent has at their child's first steps.

SPREZZATURA - Grace and impeccability that come from enormous preparation, integrity, and devotion. like a duck gliding across a pond while its legs are paddling under the water like a bat out of hell.

HOME - Comfort in body, space & time, wherever I am.

FREE - Don't fence me in. Mind, Body, Soul.

RADICAL - Extraordinary massive action in community and with delight.

Q: How / where did you Desire Map? What did you love about doing it that way?

I Desire Mapped for the first time very shortly after the Desire Map book came out. It was over a holiday and I had a few days of undisturbed focus time. I plowed through the book and exercises with passion and excitement. I was at home, in my favorite chair, with Bach and Beats Antique playing in the background. (I prefer to work with instrumental music as it doesn't pull my focus.)

Q: Tell me a specific story about how knowing your CDFs has changed your life.

Knowing my CDF's quite literally changed my world. I used to keep reaching out for entrepreneurship but floating back into office jobs that I loathed. Knowing my CDF's helped me cut the cord for once and for all from the corporate life after building a bridge to the life I wanted. This has included spending the past year traveling and working as a coach in Thailand and Mexico.

Knowing my CDF's is also critical for me as a person who used to take on too much and end up way overworked. Being clear on what is important to me helps me (politely and kindly) say no to things every day. This leaves more time for what I love and value and for what makes me FEEL loved and valued. Saying NO with laser-like precision is a HUGE gift of being clear on my CDF's.

Q: Why are you passionate about sharing this work with others?

Since reading all of Danielle's work (including The Big Beautiful Book Plan, The Fire Starter Sessions, White Hot Truth and The Desire Map) I have shared her wisdom with friends and colleagues. It is a no-nonsense way to get to the root of ANY problem and solve it based on what is most important. It is flawless in its simplicity and effectiveness. I get so excited working with people and they get so excited as they see how empowered they can be over their own destiny. The Desire Map is not a solution that one slaps over their problems and wears like a mask, it is a methodology wherein the person doing the work creates their own ensemble from the roots up.
