Q & A
Q: What are your Core Desired Feelings?
My CDFs are the following:
Q: How / where did you Desire Map? What did you love about doing it that way?
The first time I had done the Desire Map it was right after being introduced to a similar exercise months prior. I was home alone. It was quiet and calming. What I loved about this was that I did not feel as though as I would be rushed and could take my time.
Q: Tell me a specific story about how knowing your CDFs has changed your life.
The day that I became aware or enlightened as to what "MY" CDFs were, the course of my personal and professional life shifted dramatically.
These words gave me the power and confidence to say NO MORE to a seven-year legal battle with my former employee. I was a police officer with the City of Philadelphia for 11 years and in 2001 my life changed forever. During that entire year, I was sexually assaulted by my immediate supervisor and severely injured on duty and was taken off the street.
I didn't report my assault for a little over two years after it occurred out of fear of retaliation. However, the city chose to attack my workman's compensation benefits immediately after I came forward and reported this crime to the Internal Affairs Department. In 2008, I became subjected to an ongoing legal fight for workman's compensation benefits.
As the years progressed, in 2012 I was terminated from the City of Philadelphia. It was a decision my husband, and I made to assist in my federal lawsuit against the City for Retaliation as well as my on-going workman's compensation case.
After I left the Department and feeling like they had total control over my medical decision, I decided to go back to school to become a Certified Holistic Health Coach. I knew deep down that western medicine was not going to heal my injury. My world became so much brighter. I was able to get off of six different medications and live 90% pain-free. I forgot to mention that I was diagnosed with nerve damage in my left should and arm. However, this was only the beginning of my personal evolution. In January of 2013, I attended an event that did an exercise similar to the Desire Map that made us pick out words that were feeling related. I took a deep dive into that Desire Map and came up with my original CDFs: Love, Authenticity, and Spiritual Wisdom.
In 2013, I was summoned to attend a court hearing for my retaliation case against the city. It makes my stomach turn every time I think about it, but I was required to go through the documents related to my sexual assault investigation. As I sat at my desk reading these reports, I was witnessing how I was already made out to be a liar. I felt that I was on the road to becoming whole once again and taking part of this battle would destroy all I valued in myself. These words had become my anchor and my truth.
No one person or entity would ever cross those boundaries as my perpetrator had done years prior. My CDFs gave me the confidence and strength to say No More legal fighting. I laid the sword down and walked away knowing that I am not a Liar!
Q: Why are you passionate about sharing this work with others?
I am so passionate about teaching and educating others because knowing your CDFs can change your life or even SAVE your life like they did in my case.
