Q & A

Q: What are your Core Desired Feelings?

Fearless Belonging
Transformative Discipline
Abundant Access

Q: How / where did you Desire Map? What did you love about doing it that way?

I first went through the Desire Map process in 2014 with my dear friend and creative mentor. We sat by warm fires in her living room surrounded by floor to ceiling windows looking out at the mountains of Squamish and ended up finishing the process over a 2-day camping trip out in the open. That was my first experience of looking my deepest desires in the eyes. It brought me a good measure of healing and clarity. I felt...rested - like really rested - afterward. Being able to do this in an intimate setting with a close friend brought a measure of accountability and helped both of us persist through the 'sticky' bits. Going forward, I've been re-visiting my Core Desire Feelings and reading the Workbook portion of The Desire Map at least once yearly. It's become a must-do ritual for me. My partner and I went through the entire process together this year over our holidays, and that was a very moving experience. As a couple, we were able to bear witness to some of the BIG, DEEP and GORGEOUS stuff inside of us that doesn't always come out in our regular day-to-day conversations or love notes. Seeing my partner find their CDFs and knowing what they are has helped me to be more mindful of how to support them in their daily life. How to reMind. How to love more and love better.

Q: Tell me a specific story about how knowing your CDFs has changed your life.

I'm one of those 'often in my head' humans. I have come to terms with being a creative, multi-passionate, thinker. Rather than relegate this 'thinkingness' to the corner and putting a dunce-cap on it (stop braining!), I have learned to embrace and work with that part of me. The solution finder. The dreamer. The inventor. The armchair psychologist. The philosopher. The spiritualist. ALL of it.

Being able to sit down at the table with my soul, have a conversation, get the goods, and recognize what it IS and what it WANTS has enabled me to create healthy and beautiful focal points that guide my creative processes. Core Desired Feelings support me as a thinker and a creator by ensuring that I don't get tangled up in knots, or veer off the for-me path too far onto the not-for-me path. They are the string to my kite. In other words, they keep me connected to what matters, and help me stay sovereign and sane as a creative.

Q: Why are you passionate about sharing this work with others?

Before I cozied up to Danielle's Desire Map course, I often encountered a quote by John O'Donohue that had me thinking about the 'knowing' of my soul. I wanted to touch that knowing. I share this quote here for it's richness, poignancy, and worthiness...

“Your soul knows the geography of your destiny. Your soul alone has the map of your future, therefore you can trust this indirect, oblique side of yourself. If you do, it will take you where you need to go, but more important it will teach you a kindness of rhythm in your journey.”

(John O'Donohue, Anam Cara)

Knowing your Soul brings you into form. Enough said. xo
